Americans and vitamin D

Unfortunately, about 42% of the US population is vitamin D deficient with some populations having even higher levels of deficiency, including premenopausal women, those with poor nutrition habits, people over age 65,

The latest research links vitamin D deficiency to mood swings, depression, lack of energy, chronic skin conditions, and other chronic diseases.

It appears as though the newest rend of Americans avoiding the sun and wearing copious amounts of sun block are having an effect as well but negatively. Instead of just limiting exposure time they've begun to totally avoid it causing a loss of time for their body to convert the vitamin d.

Whether you realize it or not the conversion especially vitamin D3 occurs with the absorption through the eyes specifically the retina. Deficiency in vitamin D3 has been specifically linked to various sleep disorders. This has been shown to be correlated to the eyes not being exposed to the " full spectrum of light " as in wearing sunglasses.

Right now more Americans are reporting depression and anxiety than at any other time.

So here again we are all being so smart and taking bits and pieces of information and going overboard and not pausing for a moment and considering the big picture and utilizing the information appropriately. Sound familiar? 2020 ?

It seems just by being able to look at lab work in general from people of the 1940s versus now would show a much healthier population then versus now because we are just so smart because we know more. 😂

So take it from the science , loose the sunglasses and the sun block cream for a small portion of the day get outside and get a better night sleep , feel happier and get a little healthier.
