Ducks ain't chickens

Ok just to be clear there are a lot of similarities between ducks and chickens however the differences are vast . So just throwing a few ducks in with your mix of chickens doesn't exactly cut it.

Feeding is very similar and they can eat some of the very same feed ad your chickens however their niacin needs exceed chickens by far and you have to supplement for that. Also those chicken feeders you use for your chickens will not suffice with the little access areas because the ducks need room to scoop up the feed with their bills and can't accomplish that with the small chicken feeders.

Water is a huge difference and the difference between ducks and chickens is like comparing night and day. Ducks clean themselves and stay healthy with water. Ducks have to have access to water in order to clean their nares and that can't be accomplished with those bucket nipple waters you've been using for your chickens.

Ok that's the yup of the iceberg but there is so much more. Before jumping on the duck train you may want to research it a bit more before jumping in the deep end with ducks. I suggest taking a little trip with the chicken boat first to see how that goes because you'll need to double the work and care of the ducks so at least you can give the chickens a go and see if that's going to be your cup of tea and if will be interested in taking on more responsibility with the ducks.🦆
