First plants for tough beds

If you are starting a new garden bed area believe it or not you're going to do yourself a favor if you plant root vegetables first. Not only do they pull much less nutrients harshly than other plants do but they remove the hardness of the surrounding soil and follow up plants with their root systems have a much easier go than if they were straight planted in unprepared soil. Many options are out there just research the time of year and what root vegetables are prime for planting. It's a great option that not only preps your soil but doesn't waste part of a growing season with nothing in the ground . So don't forget about root vegetables such as beets, garlic, onions, radishes, potatoes and carrots. I can assure you that once you harvest that first homegrown root vegetable and taste it versus some bland one you buy in the supermarket you're never going to want to buy another one from the grocery store.

Good luck with your root vegetables. 👨‍🌾😁
