The winter doesn't look as bleak

You know looking forward to the inevitable gray and cold season we call winter this year there's not nearly the trepidation as in previous years

I can remember back quite a few years ago we didn't really think anything about it. Then unfortunately that year was bleak and cold and we lost power. That wonderful central unit wasn't that fantastic anymore and was no longer providing that wonderful warm steady air flowing throughout the household. Well poor planning on our part meant also we hadn't planned at all for the situation and had no alternative heat other than electric. 🥶 . We were cold , the kids were cold , it was pure misery.

The next year we bought kerosene heaters , propane heaters and had our just in case items for emergencies. Now the downside was the smell , the CO and the dangerous nature of those choices.

Last year we installed a wood burning stove. 😲🪵🔥. Man what an absolute joy. In the winter last year it was not only warm but cozy and relaxing. The heat that is produced by our wood stove not only feels warmer but just the relaxing feeling is immeasurable. Did you know in one study people's blood pressure decreased by 5 percent overall just watching a fireplace on a screen ? 😲

Some people really want to try and bring up some out of whack carbon footprint argument but , did you know that whether a tree roots in the woods or burns in a Wood stove it has the same carbon footprint? Now I will say the newer wood stoves are much more efficient than a standard fireplace which looses much of the benefits right up the chimney.

This year I have no trepidation whatsoever about the upcoming gray and bleak outlook normally present this time of year. Instead it's looked on as a warm and toasty season with relaxing days and nights nestled up with knitting , books and television events in front of that marvelous wonder.
